Investment professionals were given the latest intelligence and analysis of the global water technology market recently by O2 Environmental. Company CEO Paul O’Callaghan provided these insights while speaking at the European Energy Venture Fair in Zurich Switzerland. This two-day conference was targeted at fund and corporate venture investors in the energy sector. Over 140 venture capital investment professionals from more than 90 funds participated in the invitation-only event. While attending, Paul tweeted that “there is a real appetite among the energy investors for water opportunities.”
In his presentation, Paul spoke about water technology opportunities, innovations and investment trends. He specifically mentioned companies working on wastewater to electricity conversion. He also talked about a future in which desalination plants would use advanced technologies and less energy, as do the most advanced plants in the world. In addition Paul’s presentation covered:
- What clusters of technologies can be defined?
- How did technologies evolve over time?
- Has the market been acquisitive?
- What regulation can we expect in the future?
The European Energy Venture Fair is organised by the Energy Venture Forum, a Swiss non-profit association established in 2007. For those interested, next year’s event takes place at the Swiss Re Center for Global Dialogue in Zurich / Rüschlikon on the 12th and 13th September 2012.
